ZEN IN THE CITY
standing over a microwave
as watch over a coffeepot
the third feast all mine
a chill of fall
awaiting winter
in the warmth
clear to cold
as bright to ice
the movement underneath
in the stillness
a sigh
amazement
the steam floats
in the quiet wrap
air and water listen
sound becomes
a drone rhythm
where the music fills
instead of self
truly hear
when silence speaks
warmth that wraps
floating like silence
in a sigh of amazement
