Winter Water and Light
rain and flashing nights
gather and sang in winter
quietly alive.
smooth is the rumble
of enormously shaken air
fire has a voice.
alone, each water
finds bare branches of emptiness
and unresolved peace.
alone, then re-pooled again
no longer the pitied streams
filling the lowly.
dark beginnings simmer
loud roarings distant and close
glistening until quiet has arrived.
all that remains
is winter's dark water
together now and pooled once more.
