A SOLAR MOON

A SOLAR MOON

So
It's not that I don't love the Lord
but
I can see just fine from here

the solar night lights
over come the dark
over come by the full moon
the next step
re-chargeable moon lights
with their batteries
as promise to fill

and the new bio-luminous trees
sweep in the chill in the full moon breeze
in the cold fall night
that silences crickets
putting frogs to sleep early
and owls tucked into their nests
and rodents snuggled into their furs
after gorging on my garden

I'm just fine here
in the moonlight's crystalline frost
the glowing earth as a reflection
needing to make no promises
for another night

a full moon light
a next step eternal
a luminous sea
a solar nite light
I can see him just fine from here

Phocension Despair

 Phocension Despair

the sand dust
from the demolition of trees
resting undisturbed by the racing dream
a dance assured of rejection
never coveted

made into grounds
 sands of stands
spread like foreboding bones
seeking assurance of mind
lacking lust

un-stepped dance
missing music
the urge surges forward
unheard whispers among the stands
before assurance of mind

disturbed by the racing dream
a dance assured
by the king of forests
that never touches the true prince

in pari passu
ignored expectation the unchastity
spread out as dust
with a sweep of a breeze

the mighty stands whispering
giving assurance of mind
breathing an idea
before giving it a dance
in phocension despair

A TRAIN TO LOS LANCASTER

 TRAIN TO LOS LANCASTER

a minstrel mockingbird's
voice is false

poetic parrots
imagine not a stanza

spinning spiders can walk in straight lines
suspending acrobatic

drowning fish will not come up for air
never needing to be saved

working unnaturally makes cooking
a twist of good meals

often planned
trips are trained
a train is planned
set in steel

chosen path
steel rail nailed
on a wood cross

eternal never tiring wheel
the steel tire
in their best attire
new or used

moving shadows
rolling pictures
patient in curve
patient in movement

depending on new or used tires
circles eternal
direction to next direct moment
steel new or used

preordained paths for each rail
sometimes new sometimes used
iron rails on the cross of wood
nails, spikes mark the path

some times harder to follow a road
when it's easier to walk a path
hunched over in bad sleep
with floppy crushed lungs

eyes down and intense
suffocating in the mist of all that free air
like dying of thirst on the sea

to choke in the thing that is the most free
a pointless enslavement of self
for nothing
what irony

just to wind up with nothing
never knowing why
on iron nails on wood cross
an unplanned trip that's trained

what irony
to find guide posts
when many a paths' roads
are a surprise

BETWEEN AUTUMN AND WINTER

BETWEEN AUTUMN AND WINTER

many words for single thoughts
too many thoughts for single words
not enough for silent moments

soon December falls
like snow gentle and autumn like
as soft as the breeze whispers

a single moment
a single word for too many thoughts
not enough single moments

a winter moment
fills itself like a snow gentle
the breeze whispers

life like are the whispers
words that you've always wanted to hear
that you've always wanted to touch

never enough words
never enough thoughts
never enough silent Autumn

enough silence
to speak words
whispering snow now speaks

autumn like winter
falls in a gentle night
like a silence snow speaks

too many words
for a single thought
a breeze whispers
moments

SOMETHING

SOMETHING

often what is learned
comes from what is unknown
a non-learned
not knowing
blissful ignorance
what a walk
to step out of reality

to an unheard music
cannot dance
trapped and frozen
without direction
to no rhythm

no steps to take for steps to make
a paralyzed body
barely breathing
learning to dance is difficult
when you cannot walk

is it deafness
is it ignorance
when you cannot hear rhythm
such is the unreality
of direction

no steps to take
no steps to make
a paralyzed body
barely breathing
can the unlearned
become the unknown

is the not knowing
a blissful ignorance
outside of reality
heard music
traps rhythm

even a paralyzed body
will breath
to its own beat

the death of ignorance
becomes the death of deafness
you cannot trap and freeze
heard music

somethings outside of reality
somethings blissful ignorance
somethings trapped
somethings frozen
somethings not learned
somethings barely breathing
somethings without music
somethings that are us
will dance

AN ELECTION FABLE

An Election Fable

in a large pasture surrounded by mountains
were a flock of sheep and herd of goats

on one mountaintop was a great wolf
on the other a ferocious panther

looking for a meal each started down the valley towards their prey
halfway down each saw the other and realized the other would have to go
so they started their approaches

as they approached and sized each other up
each then realized the other could do
fatal damage to the other

and said the wolf, “the sheep are mine”
and said the panther, “the goats are mine”

then the hungry predators each went towards their prey
when a man fired his gun and killed them both

Embedded

EMBEDDED

Between Haifiz and
two puddles talking

and Kerouac
Three Tangier Poems

wanting sand to hide in

trapped in poetic mis-juctice

gotham graces fleet street

fleshed sword the jackals swing

beheading the decent
who fail to duck

heads up the blade will slice

burying the head
before hiding
the sand isn’t much of an option

the headless heed nothing
hiding not even available for cover

the sand is there
but it is too late

difficult to hide what isn’t there

suddenly trapped
by poetic mis-justice

not even able to hide in the sand

without a body
embedded headless

suddenly trapped
by poetic mis-justice

such mis-fortunate  madness
this poetic mis-justice

and not even able to
hide in the sand

Ripples in the Fog

October Haiku Series

Ripples in the fog

last will be first
as ripples are tend to be
these October sheets

rolling light gathers
as wind kissed autumn's lover
dotted by whispers

there in the cover
of water's rhythm dancing
as fall's sliding breath

a nod to Autumn
the simmering love kiss
as it passes by

her sounds never heard
as if scraped by a lover
gathering to himself

along the open path
an expanse of a season
now the orange promise
