WRAPPED

WRAPPED  

the only love without pain 

is when you stub your toe

love takes away pain I've been told

but a good wrap will do

it covers the wound

until the bleeding slows

does taking away the bloody wrap

make for more or less love

make for more or less pain

and what about the scar

taking away the pain

denies the love

we need our scars

to survive

we need our pain

to love

living with the pain

is living with the love

that defines us

I don't want my love taken away

living with pain only needs to wrap the wound

holding it close

until the bleeding stops

and only the weeping remains

leaving just the tears

to wrap tight

with love
